What you should know about Wildlife Emergency
Wildlife victoria is a not for profit and volunteer based organisation that has been at the forefront of wildlife rescue and rehabilitation in victoria since its formation in 1989. Wildlife victoria also has trained volunteer rescue teams that can be called upon at any time to assist in wildlife rescue emergencies such as bushfires and oil spills. It provides a 24 hour, 7 day a week wildlife rescue and information service.
Wildlife Victoria is committed to the care and protection of native wildlife through the pursuit of the greatest standards in wildlife rescue. These sessions are designed to bear you with an overview of the organization. These events are also a great way to network with other wildlife enthusiasts. The Wildlife Victoria team will be on site spreading awareness about native wildlife in the area and educating the public about what to do if you encounter an injured or distressed animal. This event is release of charge, and we'll have very exceptional Wildlife Victoria volunteers in discussion with our Emergency Response Team Leader, James Johnson talking all things' wildlife, how to live sustainable with animals, and we'll also be sharing some really nippy rescue stories. Please complete the latter details as accurately as you can and our emergency response service will respond as soon as possible. Wildlife Victoria focuses on responding to the community need to have someone to talk to when a native animal is found in distress. Our engaging and interactive sessions are designed to inform students about the outstanding native fauna found in their own backyards, the challenges they face and how the students can help. We also offer an alternative education session ' race Savage Bytes Stories From Your Backyard ' which aims to involve families and wider communities with beneficial tips about helping wildlife in your own backyard. The presentation and activities were fantastic. Their knowledge and personal stories really added to the presentation. We also donate our race Reckless Bytes Stories From Your Backyard program to schools an alternative education session which aims to involve families and wider communities with helpful tips about helping wildlife in your own backyard. Wildlife Victoria’s Emergency Response Service is invaluable, big-hearted the public somewhere to call every time they find a distressed sick, injured or orphaned native animal. We are here seven days a week including public holidays making safe our precious native animal’s welfare needs are matched with the volunteer service most appropriate be that a rescuer, transporter, carer, vet, or other specialist. Our service is staffed with highly trained operators who progress through a series of questions with each caller. This ensures that the distinct details of each animal and that notable situation are recorded along with gathering all those vital statistics worn to improve conditions and advocate for wildlife over the longer term. Supporting our trained operators is a stateoftheart database which pinpoints the distinct address of the animal needing protection and the network of volunteers available at that time within a certain geographical radius. The whole process is automated through a case numbering system which sends out HMS messages to volunteers, trail up emails to all parties connected to that unique case number and the eventual fate of the animal is reported back to the caller. The call was handled so well and the info on the phone line was also very helpful. An excellent service for both wildlife and people who find them. This vital emergency service responds to hundreds of calls every day of the year. We know that the need is greater than we can sometimes supply but we are busy difficult to try to fulfill this need while liaising with authorities and trying to change some of the circumstances that contribute negatively toward native animal welfare. If this Emergency Response Service did not exist the community would have nowhere to go when they find distressed wildlife. It was a immense relief to me that I could call Wildlife Victoria and know that someone would be qualified to assist the possum. The possum very sadly had to be put down in the last but I would not have wanted it to suffer for any longer than it did if it was not going to make a packed recovery.
