As an architect led practice, AR Kit collaborates with its clients to thrive sustainable, hand crafted prefabricated buildings for a variety of residential and commercial applications. The result is a carefully planned addition to a lengthy term family home that delivers shared and private spaces both inside and out to create a new living experience for the occupants. AR Kit’s short for the project was to do fair enough. The key design requirement for the addition was to successfully unify living areas with the rear garden to create a space where the family could coexist whilst simultaneously occupying indoor and outdoor areas. Key spatial requirements included a bridge creating a physical separation between the new and existing areas of the house, begin plan kitchen and dining room, laundry, bathroom, observe nook, outdoor sauna and bedroom. Comprising two bedrooms, one bathroom, unfold plan living, kitchen and dining area, all aspects of the house have been rehearsed around family interactions and the coastal environment. It features a highly insulated building envelope and an expansive roofed deck, enabling the children to participate in outdoor play activities in all weather conditions. The project delivers a tall environmental outcome. The building was prefabricated to reduce site based construction activity at the operational facility. The environmental footprint of our buildings is minimized through lightweight construction and associated reduced site impacts.
