He commenced his career in Melbourne in 1968 with the firm of holler Partners, Quantity Surveyors occupied on a wide variety of project types. In 1974 he joined the construction company of Prentice Builders where he worked as on site Quantity Surveyor on considerable important projects for the army, being elevated during the projects to Project Manager istration. Behind these projects were completed he spent 12 months in the head office estimating department where he successfully tendered on two more Army projects, a nursing home at Warrnambool and a fresh shopping complex at Grovedale. In 1977 he opened a branch regional office in Geelong for Prentice, where he was responsible for marketing, estimating and administration. In 1980 David returned to Melbourne to begin his Quantity Surveying Practice where he has been director for the final twenty five years.
