The lighting approach was driven by the nature of the building the lighting was all exposed and carefully positioned to enhance the raw materials of the space, brick labor and ingenious timbers. Obvious energy and maintenance efficiencies are brought to the project, but the wall washing effect using the optical oversee available through the Eco LED equipment, has provided an effect far enhanced from the clever PAR lamp solution. Using lofty color rendering LED products the detail and texture of the sculpture are revealed. With an opportunity to design our fresh space we have practiced what we preach in our work space by creating Custom Lighting Elements focusing on indirect illumination with excess individually controlled task lighting. The design inside very begin to the elements and the lighting helps to enhance daylight by plighting the ceiling by day and using track mounted spots in between the ceiling paneling by night. We approached this building with sensitivity and tailored a lighting solution to sit within the existing space appearing as though it had everlasting been there. Always a pastime active with Hassell and a great resist designing the lighting for their new studio in Sydney. It really is feasible to complete a project without Value engineering’! By day, daylight ingress had to be embraced to bear tall ambient light levels whilst by evening the clientele had to feel enclosed by the space and not be drawn to the busy road and street lighting outside. So while we didn't prevail this year, to be shortlisted is an achievement in itself. Our lighting shifts away from usual down lighting, and makes a feature of sculpture, coves and artwork. 'Washing' the marble wall enhances the sense of daylight ingress. He spoke about the value of creativity and how lighting designers are inspired by original processes. Yet he feels the value of their creativity has been degraded in recent years. The intention of the lighting is to accentuate this richness, bringing to life the key finishes, artworks, furniture and decorative elements. Over a period of five years PointOfView worked with West field to bring together this project. This concept of light and shade typifies Point of View's lighting design of Saffire. Lighting Design within Hospitality environments is a important component, no more so than in our late evening entertainment venues. We are a creatively aspiring practice but creativity is pointless if a design isn’t feasible to construct because of cost restraints, site conditions or time restrictions. Our key philosophy is that light should enhance a space without imposing upon it. The ratio of each of these components or the layering of light ’ is what creates the ambiance of a space and makes it appropriate to its use and style. Projects which touch and enhance peoples lives.
